13 MAY

reached MBS at 6.30am. sat near the bus-stop waiting for others to arrive. Serene from Adecco offered us donuts, she had a bag full of it. but i declined. i just had my breakfast.

6.45am, had my attendence taken and stood with the Level 3 group with Zach. thought Yi Wen would have forgotten what he said and of course i forge ignorance too and didn't report to him. wow! he has good memory wor! he gave me a call and asked where i was. zzz. i reluctantly walked over to his group -.-
I WAS ASSIGNED TO THE SAME TRACK 6 AGAIN! WOOHOO~~~!!! time to chillax~~~ Jay got called to Yi Wen's group too, and he got assigned to Track 5! WAHAHAHAHA!!! good! we can exchange rooms later in the day since i know the staff in that room too! XD

Yi Wen rushed us to the room and told us to get ready for the 1st presentation. he was like 'HURRY!' hello?! in case u have no idea how to read a watch, it says 7am then. AND THE 1ST PRESENTATION IS AT 9AM?! why are u in such kan chiong mode?!

went into the room, put down our bags, and talked to the room manager a bit and eric went into hibernation mode--sleep... i went to the toilet to deposit some matter :p

at nearly 8.30am, Yi Wen came have a look see and saw me standing up, waiting for the guest to enter. and he said 'sit down, no need to stand up. take a rest. u can let the guests come in and sit by themselves.' OMG! has he lost his screws?! when was he so polite and caring. but i sat down anyway, i don't like standing up.

at 8.40am, crisis occurred. now the whichever manager (not sure if Deutsche Bank or MBS) wants tables to be put into all the Track rooms 'cause today's sessions are all discussions. u see the hotel staff running here and there with trolleys, chairs trolleys, tables, and hotel managers with walkie-talkie. now everyone else is kan chiong. HELLO?! WHY SO LATE MINUTE NOW?! very fun is it?!

at 8.58am the hotel managers realised it was impossible to set up all the tables in my Track room on time, and so removed all those that's been set up. the 1st session would go without tables. is this a joke?

after the 1st session, the staff then all rushed in and set up the tables. we lay out notepads and pens on the tables. then i sat back and relax again.
everything is settled.

we provided the guests with translator/interpreter set for session 2 because the presenters would be speaking in chinese and cantonese in addition to english. cool! now i know how talks are ran. so exciting!

OMG! it's really chilling in the Track room. i had to run to the toilet after every session 'cause i always have high tide when i feel cold. and today, i decided to stay in the toilet longer to use the hand-dryer. i needed some warmth.

it's really relaxing for me today. i float and drift around after the presentation sessions ended for the day. i pretended to be busy when there was packing to do, because I DISLIKE PACKING! i would have packed my room if i like packing -.- and there is no clear order of where to keep the stuff.

went back to my registration booth at 6pm and slack. saw the people all slacking there too. 1 of the girl there asked if i wanted to take photo and i rejected.

finally, 6.30pm! close to knock off! some guys volunteered to OT and help them move the things, i wanted to help but Zach specified they want only 男的. fine! then i will TAKE PHOTO!!! took photos of Sharon, the registration booths, the people, the Deutsche Bank logo, etc. and Zach is here to sign our time sheet! Wen Jie was like 'alicia, i help the both of u (Zach and I) to take photo lah!' of course i said OK! :p i wanted to do it all along, but i didn't dare ask! :p good that Wen Jie initiated. WAHAHAHAHA!!! YES! CUTE GUY~~~

hmmm, this event job was really enjoyable and since it's a big event, everything was well provided for. even for us temporary staff, the treatment we got was pretty good i would say. let's see. we were given morning call every morning, small breakfast (like donuts, swissroll), lunch, drinks (soft drinks, packet drinks, mineral water), 4 t-shirts (u know how many event jobs give u 1 t-shirt and expect u to be clean and tidy and work for 4 or 5 consecutive days?!).

at work, it's in the classy area, the place is clean, air-conditioned, and the delegates were mostly caucasians. my eyes and soul are so satisfied. and they are polite and not as mean as general Singaporeans. please, if there is anymore of such jobs, let me do it!

also, i've made many friends! had tons of fun! i am really depressed that the job ended so quickly...

my group...
chu's friends and I...

12 MAY

the day started out boring. i was at the registration counter. i couldn't care less, i played jay's ipod openly while jay played Bejewelled on the computer. please, it's killing us having nothing to do! since it's the 3rd day into the event, there is barely delegates coming to the registration counter anymore. i wonder how the others can just stand around for like 10 hours, not playing any games, not using the internet when the computer was right in front of them, JUST STANDING AND LOOKING AROUND!

soon, jay and i became Floaters again. since there weren't many delegates who needed help with directions anymore, it's kind of boring, but it still beats standing at the counter. at least i am about to walk around being Floater.

i started to get irritating. i keep bothering zach about helping out on level 4. FINALLY! he came and said 'level 4 needs a female helper, u go up. jay, i need u for something, come with me too.' HAHA! i was assigned to Track 6 room! HAPPY! i love helping at Tracks, it's a slacking job.

zach was being really nice, he told jay to rest and assigned him to the Business Centre Services booth a.k.a Facebook booth. HAHA! the people at that booth had nothing much to do and they facebook all the time!

did i say i love Track room duties? guess what i did in the room?! I FELL ASLEEP! so did my partner! so we didn't bring the mike to the audience during the Q&A session. the sound control people had to do our job. i'm so sorry! i woke up shortly after and stayed in my alert mode, i wouldn't want to neglect my duties again.

after the Track duties, i was to stand along the hallway to guide the delegates... then 7pm, HOME~~~!!!!

taken at 7pm :)

11 MAY

got a call from jojo at 12.30am when i was already in deep sleep. she was out together with daryl, dawn, YA and weibin for supper! u know how much i want to go out with them for supper! got me so agitated and envious that it took much effort to calm down after the call... perhaps i should try caring less next time and just enjoy the fun and go to work feeling crabby.

reached MBS at 6.24am. wow, i am still early! thanks to dad, as always :D

started work. Wing called for zach and told him there were too many of us at the booth and to remove some of us. how kind of her. there was 6 of us, 3 guys 3 girls. she said all she needed was 2 of each. since the other 2 guys are friends, they didn't want to get separated, so jay was voted out. we 3 girls were in a dilemma of who to go, and zach was looking at us decide. i couldn't stand us being so wishy-washy and wasting others' time, and since the boredom of standing there was killing, i volunteered myself.

Jay and I were assigned to be Floaters. we were to stand at the entrance and guide whoever was lost or had inquiries. OMG! this is CUSTOMER SERVICE! it's a job where i have to take the initiative and approached the lost sheep. u know how passive i am and how afraid i am speaking to strangers. but since i was there, i thought i would make good use of the opportunity and cure some of my fears and improve myself. i've always admire people who are able to speak well in front of others and take initiatives. i tried, and i started to love it :) the delegates were really polite. i even volunteered to walk them all the way to the Tower 3 when they couldn't understand the directions i gave. while we were walking there, they started chatting with me abit, and i hate myself for being unable to sustain the conversation!!! one of them was like 'oh dear, it seems like it's going to rain, isn't it?' and all i said was 'i think so.' and he went 'the building is magnificent, it's great!' and i said 'yeah'. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SLAP ME!!! i would be so fed up if i were the delegate! i know it's very rude but i seriously couldn't think of anything to say!

ok, lunchtime... ... for the delegates. and i was to stand along the hallway together with many others to guide them into the right room. we are like VFR lightings or airport runway lights. and we were to maintain position till the lunch conference session was over. then it's our lunch time. food was economic rice, but whatever. it's free anyway...

then i was assigned to Track 5 room after lunch. went into the room, the room/stage manager jabie went 'what happened to your voice?' i said i spoke too much it became a little sore. i commented that it is sexy and he said 'no, it's disgusting.' so my next sentence was 'GO AND DIE!' wow! i did that within 5 minutes of meeting a person.

this jabie is 1 hell of a guy! he was able to tell my personality within 1 hour of knowing me! got a great shock! not many know of such things about me! anyway, we kind of got along pretty well that we started talking about sex. LOLL!

there was another one of the event helper in the room, called lian jie. he is those who likes to do things to the best and as a result, becomes anal. he taught me what i had to do. i had to stand up as a sign of respect for delegates who are entering the room and then close the doors when the presentation starts. then during the Q&A session, run to the delegate who raise his/her hands and hand the mike to him/her. after the presentation ended, open the doors and clear all rubbish in the room and replenish whatever necessary. it was a rather easy job, and at least i have something to do. during the presentation, i could sit down and do whatever i want.

lian jie was also working the event alone. just like me, his best/good friend stand him up. WE LOVE OUR BEST FRIENDS!

after this, i was to once again be VFR lightings, till 7.30pm.

10 MAY

u won't believe it. i woke up at 4.30am. i need to reach Tanjong Pagar International Plaza by 6.15am or Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Convention Centre by 7am. intended to take the train, but thankfully dad said he would give me a lift to MBS. apparently he specially woke up earlier for me. i love u dad :)

yes, and i reached MBS way too early--6am. the sky was still dark, none of the other event helpers have reached. i decided to act tourist and took some pictures. here guys, if u want a look of raffles place from MBS at dawn :D

MBS...

ok, the Deutsche Bank Asia Conference officially started! i was stationed at the Deutsche Bank staff registration booth. there was another 5 of them and 1 Deutsche Bank staff Wing there too.
all we had to do is register those who haven't or get the welcome pack of those who had.

i was rather free. wing warned that we would be very busy, but apparrently that's not true?! i spend my time where whacking mosquitoes. just joking. i was drawing and scribbling on blank paper.

she said the chairs at the booth were in the way so she got people to remove them in the morning. i was telling jay that she won't be able to go without chairs for long. and indeed, in the afternoon, she asked if we could get her a chair, but we told her they were removed, and we couldn't find any :D then she stole someone else's chair from the booth beside... act smart somemore!

9 MAY

went to work feeling crestfallen and stressed. u know how i dislike going to a new and unfamiliar environment alone. sad that daryl and jojo couldn't get this job and angry that chu dropped the job offer last minute.

reached Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre at 9.45am. stood somewhere in the crowd alone and sms-ing yiru. i was feeling so uneasy there. there was like 200++ or 300 of others there, though many of them were with their friends. among them, i spotted jordon and it slightly eased my uneasiness. however i know that i can't depend on him. kept bracing myself up, telling myself i can do this alone.

i feel that this job is like an assembly of people from all walks of life. or it may just be because i haven't seen so many strangers gathered for the same purpose for some time.
the approximate 300 of us were all separated into group and put under different in-charge. my in-charge Zach came and we had our attendence taken. i saw chu's friend Sharon and 1 who looks like my primary school friend.

then was briefing and tour at some areas of the facility. i finally gathered enough courage and approach the guy whom i thought he was my primary school friend. and indeed he was! i was like 'are we primary school classmates shijie (Jay)?' and he said 'yes, i know who u are. from Gongshang right? ' and we started chatting all nonsense from then on. but this kept playing in my mind 'CAN U PLEASE TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO TALK TO ME IF U KNOW I AM YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL CLASSMATE?! WHAT'S MORE WE SAT SIDE-BY-SIDE AND TALKED ALOT BACK THEN!'

ok, then was preparing the conference place, packing and arranging stuff in alphabetical order. sometimes in between when there was nothing to do, i played Jay's ipod games :p we are really getting along! like i would go 'OI! lend me ipod leh, i am bored.' or 'hey, please play your music out loud, not just listening to it alone!'

ok, lunch was good--Delifrance :D

then back to doing some mindless job again. at 7pm, many left, only some had to stay to do the pre-conference registration. of course, i was one of them. never mind, there's OT pay :p

at 9pm, knock off time! my legs and body hurt. and i was still a little hungry and i desperately need a bath. i didn't know how to go to the MRT station from the bus-stop outside the convention centre and the board had no information about the buses?! so i walked all the way to raffles place with the Maybank building as guide. and i finally came to the the North Tower of One Raffles Quay. there is an MRT station entrance infront of the Ascott and the Ocean Financial Centre. but there is no traffic light from the North Tower to the Ascott, so i had to cross to One Marina Boulevard. then i crossed to little platform where the art piece Momentum is located, and i intended to cross to the Ocean Financial Centre to the MRT station. BUT THERE IS NO TRAFFIC LIGHT LINKING THE 2 PLACES! tired and hungry as i am, all my mind was thinking was that i want to go home as soon as possible. a man probably in his 50s was at the same location as me. we stepped onto the road together, intended to cross when we thought it was a good timing. he stepped back after he took 2 steps forward. there was an oncoming taxi. i don't know if i didn't care or i felt that i would be able to reach the other side before the taxi reach me. i had already dashed out. when i was in the middle of the road, the taxi was close and the driver honked at me. got a shock and my head turned to look at the taxi. the headlight was so glaring. u know the view in tv drama when the car was heading towards the guy in the middle of the road? i saw that. i didn't feel anything then, but the moment i was on the train, sat down and i teared a little when i thought of that moment. i was really glad my legs didn't stop running. it was almost goodbye forever!

8 MAY

finally received my job description from Adecco regarding the Deutsche Bank Conference event helper job which would commence the following day. THEY TOOK FOREVER TO SEND! i had to give them a call everyday for the past few days to ask for it.

class BBQ~~~!!! when was the last time i met so many of my friends together?! it's was a great gathering, so relaxed, by the sea... while i enjoyed it, it would have been even better if jojo and daryl were there...

ok, we started by saying we wanted to take some photos by the sea just so to lead the birthday girl closer to the water. pushing, posting, grabbing people by their limbs, we started throwing people 1 by 1 into the water! successfully victimised meiyi, yiru and alison... wanted to throw more people, especially the skinny ones. and in the attempt to do that, they have all found their potentials--great strength and powerful legs. they struggled and ran like we can never expect!we managed to dump these 3 into the water

then was back to the BBQ pit, more eating and chatting... let's see what food we had--taiwan sausage, hotdog, stingray, squid, chicken thigh (i assume?), chicken wings, salad, dory fish, corn, sweet potato, prawns, salmon fish and crabsticks. dessert was something like chocolate fondue with strawberry, marshmallow... that's all i think... my memory is failing me...

then the girls went onto the mat and started some gossiping! XD

comes darren chua and gary... of course they brought booze. isn't that always expected?! they are like supplier or something? LOLLL!!! then more bullshitting with the lecturers. they always have nothing pleasing to say. 真是狗嘴吐不出象牙 :p

jasmine, alison and meiyi left at around 9++pm? they had work the following day... and i started pestering yiru to go home with me too 'cause i also have work the next day... finally! at 11pm, she agreed XD dread to go home 'cause i wanted to have all the fun, but i am afraid i might die at work so i had to sacrifice :'( darren gave his girlfriend and her good friend a lift home... thanks :D

anyway, special thanks to leo and darren for organising and preparing the food! really appreciate it!!! and the chilli stingray, squid and prawn was AWESOME! the chilli, especially, was sweet with slight taste of spiciness! love it!

*chu, look! chocolate fondue at BBQ wor! never expected it right!!!*

IT'S ALSO MEIYI'S BRITHDAY! HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY!!!

4 MAY

went to lek ning's chalet yesterday evening...

friends, air-con, BBQ, chatting, tv~~~ so relaxed... but then again, when was i not? i am jobless...
dawn, yong ann, daryl, jojo, isk, mengyu, yiru, darren low, gary, darren chua went... of course, lek ning's other friends and relatives too.

jojo taught me the basic formations of mahjong... now all i need is some practical lessons :p
dreaming of becoming a mahjong master and join their league!

gawaine came for a while and gave jojo, daryl and i a ride on his family new car before he left... the car was awesome. it was so spacious and stable. i don't know what terms to use other than those 2 since i am no car-guru.

at late night, played indian poker with lek's friends, daryl and jojo. daryl, jojo and i each had a cup or 2 of heineken as punishment for losing and we head to bed soon after. the rest continued playing games and drinking, but this time with hard liquor.

i woke up to some loud conversation that lek ning and her friends were engaged in. jojo opened her eyes and answered to lek ning's comments and something happened... *Blame it on the a a a a a alcohol*

those who stayed up the whole night now went to bed one by one. it was nearly 9am. i got out of bed, lazed around and went outside the room. it reeked of cigarette smoke.
jojo and i left the chalet for breakfast together and then we headed home separately after that. *why jojo stay in serangoon! tsk!*

stayed at home for about an hour before heading out again. I'M HAVING A DATE WITH CHU~~~!!! she finally escaped the hell! and we are going to recover our activities that we stopped since my internship started.

went to ECP for roller-blading... it's been more than a year since we last did that...
chu brought along her own roller-blades while i rented a pair from the shops there. as expected, we lost touch of the balance and all. we stepped onto the path in blades and were trying to move a little and find our balance when the wind decided to give us a push. we both landed in the grass on our butt. AWESOME!

chu was making all sorts of funny sound when she was blading and that caused me to laugh and distort my balance. tsk! don't make me fall lah!

she was telling me that a blog she always stalks stated that there is nice custurd bun at ECP and we went looking for that in our blades. our intuition told us it was THERE. and so, chu decided to change into slippers when we were close since we need to move up slope and then cross a carpark. unfortunately, i left my slippers at the roller-blade shop so i stayed in my roller-blades. i held onto chu as i struggled my way there. the way there was suppose to be effortless but it appeared arduous to me then.
halfway there, we spotted a shop selling dimsum and anticipated that that was it. knowing how chu gets excited when she sees food, i warned her to not let go of my hand and run to the shop. i won't survive the journey there alone.
the final obstacle before the reaching the shop--carpark entrance. i wouldn't risk myself getting hit by a car while crossing so i finally decided to remove the roller-blades and walk in my socks. i look horribly silly but who cares.

entered the shop, we were the only customers :p ordered icy mango and gratefruit, some critron tea and the custard bun! YUM!

the bun was tasty, but i'm not really sure if it was really the best. the drink was refreshing but the mango ice wasn't that fantastic... took our time and OH! ABOUT TIME TO RETURN MY BLADES! we hardly even blade for 30mins?! now the obective of our date is obvious...

chu foot the bill. she said it's her treat! THANKS! U KNOW I ALWAYS LOVE U!

2 MAY

early for the 1st time, by 20 mins! isn't it cool! i am in the midst of turning over a new leaf.

*was early today thanks to my dad :p
