woke up to a call from the job agency at 9.31am. "Would u be able to make it today for a 1-day Receptionist job?" zzz. i simply can't get to sleep anymore, how can i say no? moreover, just outside my room were 2 'cats' in some heated argument. as if i would stay at home and get caught in between. of course, running off is the next best option :p
so i prepared myself and left home by 10.40am. flew off to work at Tanjong Pagar.
anyway, it was a good experience. i had to make several arrangements for package/document pick-up with different courier companies. i called them and each asked me questions i never knew what to answer! like 'what is your account number with us?', 'what is the content?', 'what is the weight?', 'who is paying, sender or receiver?', 'do u want us to use the express or normal service?', 'what is your fax number? telephone number?', 'do u have insurance coverage?', etc... and of course, each question was provided with a stupid answer, something like:
DHL: what is your account number with us?
me: 935... ...
DHL: I apologise Miss Alicia, your account number should be a 9-digit number beginning with 610.
DHL: who is paying for the delivery?
me: i don't know.
DHL: u may look at section 7a on the airway bill for the details.
i was searching all over the airway bill for the information. main thing is that the info on the airway bill wasn't complete. like for some packages they didn't state the weight, insurance, etc.
the person Sally who asked me to make these calls kept changing the time of pick-up and i have to keep calling the courier companies to change it. i called them so many times that i forgot which courier company have i not arranged for pick-up. i assumed i haven't called TNT and so i proceeded to do it. when the pick-up arrangement was almost completed and i was given the Booking Reference, i found a sense of familiarity and asked 'have i arranged for pick-up already? i forgot.' LOLLL! the customer service checked it for me and told me i have. OOPS!
nonetheless, i really enjoyed myself working there. the staff were really nice. Sally, especially, was very patient with me. i was asking all sorts of funny questions like 'how do i use the phone? how do i transfer calls?', 'how do i wrap this?', 'how do i do this?', 'i don't know how to use the scanner.' and i was always wondering 'wasn't i more of a hinderance to your work than helping u?' and i felt totally stupid.
the good thing about this job is i don't have to sit at the desk all the time! and even though i didn't snack on their food, going into the pantry just makes me feel happy~~~
having tried admin assitant for a day before and now this 1-day receptionist, i would say i prefer being a recpetionist much much more to being an admin assistant.
29 APRIL
went clubbing at zouk with lek ning and daryl. it's my 1st time clubbing and i totally love it!!!!
went to fhuture dance floor after we had a little drink. i wasn't really enjoying because i just couldn't get into the mood and the music was annoying and hurting my ears. i was bored.
then we went out to get more drinks and entered the dance floor once again. this time it was different. the alcohol effect started to kick in and i was feeling high. now we really got to dancing.
lek ning and daryl really took care of me. they were always asking if i was feeling fine. they were so sweet :)
there are pathways leading to fhuture and velvet from zouk and of course, this lost girl cannot recognise the way. i felt so lost and always follow right behind my 2 expert friends :D strangely, under the influence of alcohol, i was able to make my way from fhuture to zouk all by myself! *proud*
anyway, here's what happened... lek ning got the attention of several guys but she only showed interest in 1 of them. as for daryl, he got the number of a hot guy. i didn't get any but it was quite expected. it was fine anyway. i just love the dancing, excitement and drinking.
we went for prata in tampines before daryl took a cab back home. i stayed over at lek's. it was the 1st time too. and as usual, i love stayovers :p
I WANT TO CLUBBING AGAIN!!! but it would be really difficult i guess. i wouldn't be able to go had i not lie to my mum. i feel very guilty but i wanted the fun!
left lek ning's house in the morning. when i reached home, my mum was asking 'did u really go to movies last night?' got a shock! she was suspicious of me. but i didn't want my freedom restricted in future so i carried on with the lie.
i can only really enjoy the night if i had your consent. mum, when would u ever give me that?
